Highlights of the day
Sales of new vehicles regained its health in May,
charting a 22% m-o-m (+25% y-o-y) improvement to 58,299 units as supply chain
normalizes backed by new car launches. Sales of commercial vehicles was up 21%
to 6,784 units, while passenger vehicles increased 26% y-o-y to 51,515 units.
Total industry volume for the first 5 months reached 244,620 units, 2% lower
y-o-y—making up 40% of MAA’s 2012 TIV estimate of 615,000 units. However, YTD
total industry production (TIP) was marginally lower by 1%. TIP for May
increased 19% y-o-y to 46,284 units.
