We are re looking at PPB after calling a sell on the counter earlier
in the year around the RM15.00 levels. We take Wilmar’s recent 8% rebound
from its low of S$3.00 as an indication of a bottoming whilst PPB continues
to languish around its low of RM12.00 set last week. PPB’s 18.2% stake in
Wilmar continues to be significant to the company as it contributes more than
2/3 of its over all earnings. PPB has also indicated it intends to spend
around RM500m in the next two years to develop its other business of
property, flour and cinema. RSI at 20 with MACD turning up

Its share price remains stubbornly weak despite strengthening of its
balance sheet from the first tranche of its RM2.5bn sukok of which RM1.5bn
has been subscribed and the subsequent RM500m currently launched. Lower trending
oil prices should also augur well for operating profitability as this
operating expense item accounts for more than 30% of sales value. Major
shareholder Khazanah remains committed to MAS recapitalization exercise.
