1) The KLCI slipped today amid selling pressure in the
overall market after the US market closed lower as the Fed reserve minutes and
better payrolls data signalled for the stimulus cut to be accelerated. In the
regional market, bourses were weak weighed down by China's data which revealed
weaker consumer inflation in December. HSI -0.91%, SHCOMP -0.82%, NIKKEI -1.50%
all closed lower. In the local market, PLANTATION index -1.16% lost the most
grounds weighed down by heavyweights IOICORP -3.21%, GENP -1.82%, FGV -0.65%
after CPO futures declined. Market breadth was negative as losers outpaced
gainers by 427 : 392. Futures closed 1825.5 (3pts discount).

4) Situational:-
IBHD +1.51% RM2.68 - I-City Properties Bhd, a
wholly-owned subsidiary of I-Bhd, has proposed to acquire a piece of freehold
land from The Peak@KLCC Sdn Bhd. I-Bhd said the land of about 4.9 hectares in
Shah Alam , will be purchased for RM241.3m, in convertible unsecured loan
stocks issued by the company. Another unit, City Centrepoint Sdn Bhd, has also
proposed to acquire a parcel of nearby land of three hectares from The
Peak@KLCC, for RM129.0m, in convertible unsecured loan stocks by I-Bhd.
5) WATER
The Cabinet Committee on Selangor water supply will
finalise further steps to be taken by the federal government on the
takeover of water management affairs.
The Energy, Gree Tecnology and Water Dept will takeover
matters on the management of water if the
restructuring of the Selangor water industry was not settled by Dec 31, 2013,
based on Section 114 of the Water Services Industry Act 2006. The Selangor govt
has already given the green light for the implementation of Langat 2 water
treatment plant.
6) Market - KLCI to continue to consolidate ahead of
holiday shorten week next week with strong rotational play remaining firmly on
O&G sector
