1)The KLCI rose today inline with the US market which scaled to record highs led by the Nasdaq. In the regional scene, bourses were negative dragged by SHCOMP -2.20% after a flush of new IPOs spur concerns over tighter liquidity, HSI was also lower at -0.74%, ASX -0.42% reversed gains after RBA holds rates. In the local market, PRIVA +2.43%, SANICHI +10.52%, WINTONI -6.12% led the list of the most actively traded today whilst the CONSUMER index +0.75% gained the most grounds boosted by heavyweights NESTLE +1.35%, BAT +1.20%, PPB+0.96%. Market breadth was slightly negative today as losers edged gainers by 463 : 420. Futures closed at 1816.5 (5pts discount).

4) Situational:-

NIHSIN -6.75% RM0.345 - Ni Hsin cookware manufacturer has signed a heads of agreement (HOA) for the acquisition of the entire equity stake in solar energy entity Helios Photovoltaic Shd Bhd. The proposed acquisition will further strengthen Ni Hsin's fundamentals while providing a major income stream to the company. Despite the diversification, Ni Hsin will continue to grow its existing cookware business by tapping into the China, Indonesia, and other SEA markets to help achieve its 2015 target.

 

PESONA  -2.00% RM0.98 - Pesona Metro Holdings Bhd has secured a RM172.7m joint-venture project between Pesona Metro Sdn Bhd, Pembinaan Kaleigh Sdn Bhd and Hanawin Sdn Bhd, for road works in Pahang. The new highway construction project is located from Section 3E2 of Merapoh to Kg Kubang Rusa. The stretch is located along Central Spine Road Highway Package 3 linking Gua Musang, Kelantan to Kg Relong, Pahang. Pesona Metro said the project was expected to take three years from the date of procession of the site on March 17 this year.

 

5) MFCB

MFCB announced the signing of the Shareholders’ Agreement between Ground Roses Limited, Silver Acreage Limited and Electricite du Laos to regulate the parties’ participation in the project company that will be undertaking the development and implementation of the Don Sahong Hydropower Project. Pursuant to the Shareholders’ Agreement, Ground Roses, Silver Acreage and EDL respectively will hold 79%, 1% and 20% in the project company which will be a private company to be incorporated in Lao People’s Democratic Republic.

 

The project company to be named as “Don Sahong Power Company Ltd”  will eventually sign a Concession Agreement with the Government of Lao PDR to develop, build, and operate the Don Sahong Hydropower Project. DSPC will have an initial registered and paid-up capital of US$3,000,000 and the eventual registered and paid-up capital is currently estimated at US$53,790,000.

 

The Don Sahong Hydropower Project is a run-of-river hydropower project located at the Hou Sahong channel of the Mekong River in Khong District, Champassak Province, Lao PDR.  It will have a capacity of 260MW and capable of generating about 2,000 GWh of electricity per year.  

+ve with the hydropower project expected to be completed by 2019 providing recurring income.

 

6) Market – Range bound trading between 1800-1830 points maintained unless we have a surprise cut in rates when BNM next meets this Thurs with the phenomenon of global rates racing to the bottom fuelling record high markets.
