SPSetia(RM3.41) – recently the stock
retraced to between 61.8% & 76.4% of its sharp fall from 3.78 to 2.98,
hitting an intraday high of 3.54. We believe SPSetia has achieved its
short-term technical bounce target and investors should take profit here. The
recent placement of 321m shares were priced at 2.94, hence a significant 16%
return in the current bearish market is very tempting for shoring up losses
in other stocks. In addition, SPSetia trades at a premium to its peers in
terms of valuation – PER, P/bk or P/NAV due to its historical liquidity and
its strong track record under the current CEO. However, post the general
offer, it is no longer the most liquid property stock in Malaysia, and
there’s the added speculation that the CEO will leave the company once he has
exercised his put option. Take profit (PT)

Genting(9.64) – persistently trades with a
lag to Genting Singapore (GENS) for the last 2 years since GENS won the
casino license in Singapore. Last Wednesday GENS topped out in SGX with a
sell signal on the candlestick charts, and Genting followed with a topping
out pattern on Thursday & Friday. GENS has since corrected 7% from its
recent high while Genting is off 2% from its high. The correction in
casino-related gaming stocks appears to be regional in nature as HKSE-listed
Macao casino stocks have reflected similar trends. Genting’s MACD is also on
the verge of a negative crossover and with the imminent elections cloud over
hang, it is appropriate to sell into strength for an opportunity to reenter
below the 9.00 level. Sell into strength.
