1) The KLCI opened higher after US stocks advanced on softer economy data supporting the current loose monetary stance, and traded in a tight band before closing positive. Regional indices took the US lead of Fed to continue to delay QE tapering till next year SHCOMP +1.48%, NIKKEI +1.23%, HSI +2.00%, STI0.67%, KOSPI +0.38% all closed in positive territory. In the local market, PLANTATION index +0.72% outperformed the CI after CPO prices rose for a 3rd day today, the index was led by GENP +6.79%, BKAWAN +0.30%, KRETAM +1.45%. Market breadth was positive with gainers beating losers by 428 : 363. Futures closed 1822 (5.5pts premium)

4) Situational:-

SCABLE +6.21% RM1.71 - Sarawak Cable Bhd, via its JV unit Sinohydro-Trenergy has secured two contracts worth RM618.6m from Sarawak Energy Bhd (SEB) to lay transmission lines. The JV has accepted the Letters of Award for the Mapai to Lachau 500kV transmission line project (Package B) for RM352.8m and the Lachau to Tondong 500kV transmission line project (Package C) for RM265.8m.

 

GADANG  -1.03% RM0.96 - Gadang Holdings Bhd has acquired 80% stake in Indonesia-based power company PT Hidronusa Rawan Energi (HRE) for 10.8bn rupiah (RM3.06m). In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Gadang said its indirect wholly-owned subsidiary, Asian Utilities Pte Ltd, had entered into a sale and purchase of shares agreement with Angga Panji Kesuma and Aprian Eka Rahadi to acquire 6,000 shares of nominal value 1m rupiah each, representing 80% stake in HRE.

 

5) TOP Glove

Its wholly-owned subsidiary, Top Glove Sdn. Bhd. has been granted with a patent titled "Former Carrying Assembly",by the Registrar of Patents, Malaysia.

 

"Former Carrying Assembly" is the design of the holder of the hand-moulds, which is attached to a conveyor system for the dipping of gloves. This invention has increased production output efficiency by double.

- Prefer Kossan as a better value proposition at these levels.

 

6) Market - Rotational play to continue with focus on O&G names ahead of Friday's listing of UMW's O&G arm.
