1) The KLCI rose today inline with the US market that closed higher shrugging off weaker retail sales and jobs data. In the regional market, bourses were also stronger after China recorded its biggest weekly gains in 5 months even after data today showed China's inflation stayed subdued in January; SHCOMP gained +0.83% while HSI +0.60% paired earlier gains but still closed in positive territory. In the local market, Small Cap index +1.41% outperformed the CI carried by names such as SCOMIES +3.57%, DSONIC +6.20%, COASTAL +4.68%, JCY +4.13% as investors turn to riskier assets. Market breadth was positive with gainers beating losers by 525 : 273. Futures closed at 1816.5 (3 pts discount).

4) Situational:-

 

MYEG +2.08% RM2.95 - MY E.G. Services has won a contract estimated at RM180m from the Royal Malaysian Customs Department. MyEG will undertake the Customs Online Tax Reporting (Electronic Monitoring System - EMS) project, which has a six-year lifespan, starting April 2014.

 

 

 

5) CUSCAPI

 

The company secured a five-year contract worth RM21 million from Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd to provide and maintain the point-of-sale (POS) system for the existing Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) terminal and the new low-cost carrier terminal or klia2.

 

 

 

The scope of work under the agreement covers the provision of hardware and software solutions including implementation and yearly maintenance of the POS system, it said. The fully integrated POS solution will be deployed for all retail units and F&B outlets in KLIA and klia2. Cuscapi's integrated POS solution is currently supporting all the retailers at the existing KLIA terminal for the past four years.

 

 

 

With the klia2 project under its wing, the company also intends to extend similar services to potential or new airports in the Asian region particularly those countries that have plans underway to expand or upgrade their airports to cater for the huge increase in air traffic and travellers.

 

 

 

+ve as this help expand Cuscapi client base from traditionally fast food operators for their POS system.

 

 

 

6) Market - The current pattern to be maintain with KLCI consolidating as investors seek out value in mid/small cap names.
