1) The KLCI saw sideways trading today before edging to close in positive territory despite US market closed lower overnight on the back of weaker economic reports as well as rising Tension in the Middle East. In the regional market, bourses are also stronger led by the SHCOMP +0.93% after China's factory data and retail sales released at midday beat analysts' consensus, HSI and NIKKEI subsequently rose closing +0.83% and +0.62% respectively. In the local market, TECHNOLOGY +1.33% stocks gained the most grounds today, namely UNISEM +3.54%, JCY +2.09%, MPI +1.80%, and GTRONIC +1.41% after US chipmaker, Intel corp, raised its earnings forecast guiding for better sales for its semiconductors segment. Market breadth was positive as gainers beat losers by 412 : 345. Futures closed at 1876.5 (parity).

 

2) Heavyweights : SKPETRO +1.66% RM4.28, TENAGA +0.51% RM11.72, DIGI +0.71% RM5.67, ASTRO +2.22% RM3.68, AMBANK +0.98% RM7.15, BAT +1.12% RM65.00, MAYBANK -0.40% RM9.80, PPB -1.29% RM15.30.

 

3) DBT : BJLAND 7.5mil @ RM0.785 (9.3% discount), YEN 5mil @ RM0.24 (4% PUC @ 20% discount), MAGNUM 4mil @ RM3.05

 

4) Situational:-

GADANG +2.22% RM1.84 - Petronas Refinery and Petrochemical Corp Sdn Bhd has awarded Gadang Holdings Bhd a RM350.0m contract to undertake site preparation works in Pengerang, Johor. The phase two of the site preparation work at the Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (Rapid) project is targeted for completion by Sept 30, 2015.

 

5) AirAsia

 

AirAsia Bhd has dropped plan to acquire Indonesian low-cost carrier Tigerair Mandala from Singapore-based Tiger Airways Holdings Ltd which is looking to sell its 35.8 percent in Mandala to cut its overseas exposure and focus on returning its flagship Tigerair business.

 

Indonesia remains Airasia’s main growth area with more focus to grow AirAsia Indonesia organically. AirAsia Bhd will be investing US$300 million a year in Indonesia to grow its fleet and destinations. Neutral
