Approvals from shareholders at yesterday’s EGM put the
company one step closer to the much anticipated listing of its construction
arm in mid July this year. Recall that shareholders will be rewarded
with 1 Sunway Construction share for every 10 Sunway Bhd share held. Based on
the recent run up of big const names Gamuda (16.2x 2016), IJM (15.2x 2016),
Sunway Con should garner similar valuations based on its sizeable order book
of RM3bn. Sunway shareholders will also benefit from proceeds raised which
are set to be paid out as a special dividend. After the past fortnight
consolidation around the RM3.70-3.80, the stock looks set to test its
immediate upside of RM4.00 and eventually RM4.50 closer to mid July.

Share price fell
closer to its major support at RM3.23 on fears of the implementation of the
6% GST in April 2015. Assuming the company absorbs the full impact of
the GST, the yield remains compelling at 6.7% (based on cons forecast ) which
is attractive vs Magnum at 6.3% before accounting for GST. BJtoto earnings
are also notably less volatile then Magnum as it encounters smaller swings in
the luck factor with its wider range of 4D and lotto games. With expected
downside limited, the counter represents an attractive defensive buy at
current levels.
